How To: Onigiri

Onigiri, the delicious treat™. It's everyone's favorite. In fact, it was also everyone's favorite 2000 years ago (aka 300BC) (aka true fact). Today I'll show you how to make onigiri! So, what are we waiting for? Let's begin!

Step 1. Go to your local paddy and get two cups of rice and put it in the rice maker (good for four people) (but not for five).

Step 2. Add water until the whole mixture is at the two mark in the rice maker (no more, or the rice could melt).

Step 3. Press the special mystery buttons to make it cook until it stops (if you don't do this exactly right, the rice maker will explode) (also you need to have super veiny hands, like mama, to get it just so).

Step 4. Prepare your ingredients, for example, salmon, pickled plum, sardines, and more (and chicken).

Step 5. If you did it right your rice should be ready by now, so take some out and put it in the onigiri molds until they're about halfway full (while you're doing this, you can sing a song like jingle bells).

Step 6. Load in your fillings (not too much or it'll fall apart) and add some more rice to the top (pro tip: don't forget the filling).

Step 7. Press down the top of the mold as hard as you can until you hear it squelch (like paste).

Step 8. Pop it out with the built in popper, and voila! There it is, perfect and nice (just popping along).

Step 9. Get out your seaweed and wrap it up (wrap-wrap-wrapping!).

Step 10. Roll it in sesame. Because it's good and makes it less sticky (Don't let it "roll" down the hill)!

Step 11. Time to chow (and that's just "chow" it works)!
